About Inner Game.

It Started
With Humility.

\\ Coach Robbie’s journey with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu started alongside his young son as they visited gyms together.  Coach Robbie was no stranger to the environment - he spent 10+ years as a ranked triathlete and cyclist throughout his time in college and well after.  After meeting his wife Jill, he stopped racing and began playing rugby for a club team in Baton Rouge.  Years of competing and training meant that he felt comfortable walking onto the mat.  That’s why it was such a surprise to him when, first rolling with a 15 year old (two thirds his size), he was submitted *over and over and over again!*

The thoughts didn’t stop ringing in his head: “How did this kid to this to me?  How was he able to control me?”  Coach thought “I’m so much stronger and larger than him.  What I thought should have happened on that mat…never did.”  That’s what caught Coach Robbie’s attention, and that’s when his love for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu began.

Training Students.

\\ At Inner Game Jiu Jitsu, there is one athletic trait that is valued above all others: mental strength.  When developing one’s inner game, what lies at the foundation is one’s unwillingness to quit.  Coach Robbie learned this through his years of training, but realized it fully as he came into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Mental fortitute can’t be taught.  Rather, it must be conditioned.  This is what you will receive when joining us at Inner Game.  You will be conditioned, above all other things, to be mentally tough.  To never quit.  To always push against the odds.  It doesn’t matter how powerful of an athlete you are.  It doesn’t even matter how gifted you are at martial arts.  You can learn what it means to never quit.  This valuable trait, needed both inside and outside the gym, is what we want you to have.
